I’ve just ordered Shari Thurows book Search Engine Visibility because call me sad, but i’m interested to know why search engines like Google rank some pages higher than others..

Shari Thurow is one of the worlds foremost authorities on search engine optimizations, and this book covers all the areas of how you can pull your site up the list towards the first place position at #1
Shari’s Site details a little more of her work, and her book is available through amazon
Should be an interesting read..

Vodafone now have what I think is going to be the best use of the 3G phone network.. but in true vodafone style they have screwed it up again!!!
Vodafone’s 3G Mobile Connect product takes advantage of the new Vodafone 3G network to provide a maximum 384kbps downlink and a maximum 64kbps uplink (which both are pretty fast!). They provide a PCMCIA card and the Vodafone ‘dashboard’ software

Obivously the question is.. How much.. both in cost and bandwidth?
According to Vodafone.. when you buy your Mobile Connect datacard, you’ll be able to choose between four monthly packages depending on your estimated usage. Each package includes a ‘bundle’ of data usage every month, with additional usage charged separately. Which is how their GPRS started out (and now is a per K rate)
They say that ‘Other charges will apply if you need a virtual private network link to your company computer network: there’s a one-off payment for the equipment and then an ongoing monthly charge per user…’ making me think ‘is this a straight IP connection that I can run my VPN client over.. or something more restricting..’
