So got my Sim card for the 7730 today… Its actually quite painless.. The desktop manager seems to be the key to the BES server, passing the PIN number of the blackberry through to the BES server, and from there it all seems to just ‘work’.

Theres a few rough edges to the solution, like deleting an email on the blackberry wont actually delete it on the outlook client, the two have to be kind of managed seperately, but I’ve now got my calender syncing wirelessly as well.

I dont think the blackberry will replace my ipaq, well at least not yet. I think they serve different purposes.. but time will tell..

I’m still having issues getting the IM client onto the device AND connecting. It seems to connect but then never quite holds the connection.. more hacking needed I think…
