I was flicking through my LinkIn network today, and its pretty amazing the kind of people that are in my network 71,000 that I can get at through a trusted referral in fact.

Now there are some pretty cool jobs people in my network do; how about an Animation Scientist at Pixar, or maybe a Technical Generalist, thats a realy open positon… Maybe a Strategic Technology Evangelist at Google.. VP of Development / Geek at Critial Mass inc, and quite a few people in there seems to be employeed as just Blogger.. Corporate motivator.. Me… I’m just a Principal Presales Engineer

So the Gimp arrived this morning, bang went my lay in with the postman banging on the door at 8:30am..

Its pretty good as a protector for your laptop, but it seems though that the 14 inch Gimp is a little too large for the Toshiba M200, but its the perfect size for the Dell D600 which I also have..

So I’m going to order another Gimp but this time order the Gimp 12 inch (in blue and red), which I believe will be a perfect size for the the Toshiba M200 TabletPC.

So on the way back from the USA in January. I was reading an article in the in flight magazine about Google Adsense.

The idea sounded simple. Google index your site and present a list of relevant ads for your current content. The advertisers pay Google for clicks through to their site, and you receive a portion of the amount paid for clicks on Google ads on your website. Simple..

I’m basically going to see how it goes, having added the Adsense code into the template, and I dont think its too in your face at the side, although I think I may move the position to be more noticable..

So I ordered a 14 inch Crumpler Gimp for my new Toshiba last night.

The Gimp is a super strong water proof, Neoprene laptop ‘pouch’, with nylon stitching, a long zip with with protective seal (so your laptop doesnt get scratched) that snuggly holds your precious laptop tight and firm..

..and they just look so cool!!

Worryingly my new M200 TabletPC has obtained only what I can call a ‘Light-Saber’ noise when you tilt you it..

It seems to be described here on TabletPC buzz. The effect is basically when you tilt the TabletPC you hear like I said a kinda of Light-Saber noise as it tilts..

A disk crash wouldnt really be the end of the world since I back up every night, but it’s still worrying…

So I definately love my new TabletPC, having a convertable is a whole new world.. My old Fujitsu was great but its like finding you have a second hand having lived your life with only one!!

But I’m undecided on something.. I actually ordered two multidocks, one for home, one for the office. I did that because when I’m stationary in the office or at my home office I like to work in portait mode.

I think its because its so much like working on paper, it feels more natural. Now this leaves me with no keyboard (since its tucked behind the screen), so enter a USB keyboard.. now the one I’m on now that our IS department let me borrow is going to have to go (sorry James its just not workable, the keys stick and you have to hit them with a sledgehammer to get them to register!!).

My question is.. is this the right way to work at your main stationary location? or should I be in laptop mode with a second monitor??

Well been a product two days in Dublin, TabletPC has been great, done some nice work with the customer and a few pints of the real black stuff (just doesn’t taste the same back home).

So now I’m sat at the airport enjoying one more before I fall asleep on the plane home. Plug in my noise cancelling headphones and drift off..

So, that Toshiba M200 tabletPC I promised myself a while back arrived Tuesday, giving me just enough time to get it set up and working with all my ’stuff’ before heading out to Dublin for some consulting work at O2.

I have to say it does rock big time as a tablet! Its only a little heavier than my old Fujitsu ST4100, which is pretty light anyhow. I’d have to disagree with the view alot of people have of the unit getting very hot, I’ve had it on my arm pretty much all day and its cool, compared to the Fujitsu anyhows, that needed (and had) its own fireproof cloth coating!!

The things I really love about this unit is the large real estate I have on the screen, 1400 x 1050 and a 12 inch screen really makes a huge difference. I added the PocketPC Techs WriteSHIELD, just because I’m a bit picky about keeping my toys nice and new looking. I added a similar protector to my Fujitsu but it was pretty obvious it was there, the WriteSHIELD however is almost invisible but cuts the glare and protects the screen.

The units really fast (having the 1.8ghz and 60gig drive model), and as I said has some really nice features, and I do love the ability to swap in and out of Slate and Laptop modes on the fly..
