Well. the deer is still here.. and quite frankly it doesnt seem to be wanting to go any place soon..
Having spoken to the British Deer Society they think that my garden is just a good food source for it.. so thats why its staying…
They suggested some ways to get rid of it… but I’m starting to become a bit attached to it… it seems to be uninjured, its eating well (grass mainly.. the odd weed, bit of hedge..)
Its generally being fairly sociable as well at the moment (no late night parties, friends round to chew the cud..), so I guess I’ll let it stay for the moment…

I have mentioned before why I like and started to use Flickr for my photos, and Flickr seems to have supported us beta buyers with a little reward or two..
The one that will make most difference to you is the fact I have some free Flickr Pro accounts to give away..
Worth US$24.95. Here’s what you’ll get with a Pro Account:
2 GB monthly upload limit
Unlimited storage
Unlimited bandwidth
Unlimited photosets
Permanent archiving of high-resolution original images
Ad-free browsing and sharing
Just post your comment below saying WHY you think you should get a years free Flickr Pro Account, and if I see one comment that convinces me I’ll send you an email and we’ll get you signed up..
If I know you.. you’ll have an advantage, and I also am not going for pure begging requests either..
Update: sorry I also forgot to say I’ll pick a ‘Winner’ next week.. so far I have my favortie!!

Marcs TabletPCWeblog has an interesting post today;
The TabletPCBuzz.com forums are buzzing about the reported appearance of an IBM-branded Tablet PC. It sounds like an interesting addition to the mix – essentially a 12 inch ThinkPad with a battery slice in the same price range as as the new Toshiba R15 offering. This would be a great thing for the TPC market – a lot of people have been waiting for an entry from IBM or Dell to ‘validate’ the Tablet PC.
Certainly this sounds like good news, but a quick hunt round the net seems to point to the fact these rumours have been abound for the last 3 years or so! But this new batch of rumours may have a bit more ground to them, with people reporting specs on pages that seems to have magically disappeared…
It would certainly be great if IBM did produce a TabletPC version of their ThinkPad.. Would I get one on my movement to IBM? doubt it! But hey I can try if the rumours are true!!

So I am sat here in canary wharf waiting for my 1pm meetings, and just pondering my life right now.. Its not a great one at this second in time..
I am watching everyone else, wondering what they do.. Are they happy? Who do they go home to.. What are they thinking? Are they going to be doing the same thing in 5 years.. Sat eating a pret sandwhich on the terrace of the slug and lettice?
I am wondering what I need to, and want to do.. Or even if I have any control over it..
..Its hot, I am tired and exhausted..
Maybe tomorrow will bring something my way.. Maybe I need to go find it..

So in the onwards hunt to find cool stuff about my new employer, I found a very interesting area of alphaworks called Sametime Plug-in for Trillian.
For those of you not in the know, Trillian is a very cool multiple message network IM client for windows, coming in a basic (free) and pro (small donation needed) version, its pretty much the ipso facto multi-IM client tool out there, supporting plugins and a nice user friendly UI..
Now I know myself and quite a number of other people inside Ascential use Trillian as their messaging client, mainly because we’re a hap hazard bunch that use various IM clients and networks to keep in contact.
But with the move to IBM, we’re obviously all going to be on Sametime as our IM network, but that still leaves non Ascential people to keep in contact with (partners, clients, family etc..)
So this IBM official plugin looks pretty cool, not just because IBM is rapidly going up in my view as a pretty cool company (blogs, podcasts, support of growing technologies), but their support for something like trillian means I can keep Trillian Pro as my IM client, and not have to have more software on my TabletPC than needed..

I was reading today an interesting article on about the book ‘Moondust: in search of the men who fell to earth‘.
The bit that made me smile was on the pay that the astronauts received..
They got their normal pay, which was $17,000 a year, plus the $8 a day for being away from base, minus any deductions for accomodation.
On his return Buzz Aldrin tried to present NASA with an invoice for travel expenses (880,000 miles at eight cents a mile), NASA presented him an invoice back for one saturn V rocket, ready for travel, costing $185 million..

On its one year birthday Googles again are saying something about Gmail people arent sure whether to take as a April Fool or not.
If you remember Google Gmail with its 1 gig of storage was launched on April Fools day last year, but it was far from a joke..
Gamil’s exclusiveness has caused alot of hype over the last year, the demand for getting a gamil invite skyrocketing, some invites at the beginning even being sold on ebay.
Now google are even poking fun at themselves with their GoogleGulp site today..
But back in reallity, Gmail has now upped its storage to a massive 2 gigs per user..
Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn’t mean you should have to worry about it. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we’re giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more space as we are able. We know that email will only become more important in people’s lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our users and their needs. From Gmail, you can expect more.
..And by the way I still have plenty of gmail invotes, just post your email address below..
