Its amazing the atmosphere you can get when you mix good company, good views, fresh air and a weekend in Wales.

Not far from Wrexham, between Gresford, Llay and Bradley, the River Alyn flows around a bend in its wooded valley, hidden from its surroundings, and on either side of the river are the Wilderness Fields, in which is set Wilderness Farm. The farm is a complex of buildings which is almost a small village, it has some of the most stunning views, and although not far from Wrexham, it feels like your deep in the solitude of Wales.

It’s here that Elf, Jammer, Crazy Dancer, Papa Lazaru, SmileySmile and Pol organised Wfest 06, a little gathering of 35 people having a weekend of chilled times, loud music, drinking and much hot tubbing.

We travelled up to North Wales on Friday, crossing over the border about 6pm, and after managing to pitch our tent, the festivities of Friday began; some fire play by me, along with fire breathing, lots of dancing, and music up on the hill overlooking the farm.

When Saturday morning came along, it was a slow start, enjoying the view, and a lot of checking the water level on the hot tub from the previous nights sessions. Saturday evening was barbecue time, before the band started playing on the hill. One of the plus points of having no neighbours is there’s no one to complain when the bands having such a great time they want to stay the night and play on into the morning.. Another 6am finish for some..

Sunday was mainly Sumo Sunday with a lot of people having gone kayaking, or off roading, the remainder of us got stuck into some serious Sumo Bouts. Apparently I looked a little like a cross between a bubble bee and an onion.

I think the biggest thing I got out of the weekend, except for having a fabulous time, was remembering that I really can just be me, and no matter what in the world I am, I do have a quite wonderful life..

I didn’t come home with any traffic cones, I didn’t loose my socks, and I know a lot more of me is starting to bubble to the surface again.. Most of all I know my friends rock…
