Hi Andrew,

I stumbled onto this blog entry on Friday night so I thought I'd try my hand at it first thing on Sat morning. It was just myself, so I didn't have the luxury of positioning cars this time around.

I left Alton station around 1030 and made it as far as Selborne (well the Selborne Arms anyway - what a nice pub) by 1300. A fairly easy walk to Selborne and for the most part signed adequately. I probably made the usual errors of crossing a field the wrong way or sticking to the wrong fence line when the footpath signs mysteriously stopped. Other than that, a nice walk.

The weather yesterday was fantastic and there wasn't a lot of mud around. Because I had the car at Alton station, I had to turn around at some point. This point was of course realised after 2 pints at the Selborne Arms...

Backtracked from Selborne to Alton in about 2 hours - didn't see many people on the way.

I've convinced another mate to come along, so we're going to try the full 21 miles soon, putting cars into position and setting from Alton very early morning.

Have you been back for the second attempt yet?

Cheers,
Shannon.
